Just thirteen days ago I was eight months pregnant.
Everyone loved rubbing my belly.
I even wore my “Baby On Board” shirt over my gigantic stomach.
I know I don’t have many followers so not many people will see this, but I HAVE TO SAY SOMETHING!!
I BELIEVE THIS STORY IS 100% BULLSHIT.
It was posted to a tumblr, with no other posts, created today a few hours after the story broke that Jennifer Fox, an ACTUAL PERSON, suffered a miscarriage after being clubbed and pepper sprayed at Occupy Oakland last week…
I am so freaking upset that this post has been reblogged thousands of times without a single source on a story that is just ridiculous…
The person who wrote it obviously has no idea how pregnancy/birth/abortion or anything actually works… They go into extreme detail about how they got beat up at the protest, (which one? who knows, those details are missing) then they get to the hospital, make some friends, and then “oh yeah no baby” No details on what happened to cause the fetus to die, nothing about an induction or c-section or anything, just nope no more baby…
People are not horses okay? We don’t just resorb dead fetuses… they have to be removed. So I am to believe that this woman had a 8 month old fetus inside of her, meaning it could have been born that night and probably lived just fine with the right medical treatments, and then all of a sudden she just doesn’t? no details? absolutely none? I’ve heard a lot of women share traumatic stories of stillborn children and late miscarriages and so forth, and they tell you every horrible detail, because they won’t ever forget it. But this person, nope, just a list of her own injuries and nothing else.
…then it goes into a Jerry Springer rant about an ex-husband and friends accusing her of having an abortion and calling her names…
I’m facepalming so hard right now it’s hurting my face/palm.
GUYS. SERIOUSLY. PLEASE.
IF YOU WANT TO BE HELPFUL TO THE OCCUPY MOVEMENT AND ACTUALLY EXPOSE ABUSIVE COPS… YOU CAN’T MAKE UP RIDICULOUS SOB STORIES AND SPREAD THEM LIKE WILDFIRE. STOP IT.
(also, this + the Jennifer Fox story are bringing up so much gross victim blaming… but I won’t touch that with a 40ft pole… I have not enough rage left)
I need to go lie down now.
